The STC Music Boosters will host Tama-Toledo’s inaugural
Guitar Hero Tournament
presented by Lincoln Savings Bank in conjunction with the July 23 RAGBRAI stop in Tama-Toledo.
NOTE: There’s been a change in GHT start time. The GHT will now commence at 2 PM with a projected end time by 8 PM (latest). So, if you’re a rider and would like to play you could roll into town as late as 3 PM and still make the first round.

Tournament registration is now open to the first 256 hero-wannabe’s who register online.
Registration is $10 per person with proceeds to help send the STC band and choir to San Antonio, TX, in June 2009. There is no charge to be a spectator at the tournament.

The tournament will take place in downtown Toledo outside the historic Wieting Theatre. First-round action will begin at 2 PM on July 23rd and we expect the tournament finals to wrap-up by 8 PM. Depending on the number of entrants, this will be an 8-round single elimination tournament randomly pairing two heroes in head-to-head competition in each round. High score from each pair will move on to the next round.
The tournament format will be Guitar Hero III on PlayStation 2 consoles. Equipment will be provided but you may bring your own unaltered PS2 controller if you like. Songs for each round will be announced at check-in on the 23rd.

Our focus is on fundraising and FUN so we won't have qualifying rounds or group contestants according to ability levels. Consoles are being provided by STC music students and Family Time Rental of Toledo is providing 9 LCD big-screen TVs. This is donated equipment and contestants will be held responsible for any damage.
As the tournament progresses and as consoles free-up we may offer non-tournament games for $1 per person.
A scoreboard at Guitar Hero Headquarters will show updated results and times for the next round matches.
Prizes
Grand Prize: $300 Gift Card to Best Buy
Second Prize: $100 Gift Card to Best Buy
Third/Fourth Prize: $50 Gift Cards to Best Buy
Each of the “Elite Eight” receive a free commemorative t-shirt
Each station will have a “door prize” drawing at the conclusion of each round 1 through 4 with contestants eliminated in that round entered in the drawing. Door prizes will include items like Guitar Hero controller skins.
Commemorative GHT t-shirts are also available for purchase online or at the Guitar Hero Headquarters (quantities may be limited). We will not ship t-shirts purchased online, they need to be claimed at GHH on the 23rd.
Our t-shirt design is provided by Zack’s in Toledo. These shirts ROCK! The t’s are gray with this image screen printed on the front.
